About the piece
This tree doesn’t lie flat on the wall. On each of its four tiers the blocks down the middle are stacked three high and stand out from the board, stepping down towards the edges; the baubles sit one block prouder than their branches, and the star stands four blocks high. A gold garland winds across every tier, and three ribboned gifts wait at its foot.
Face on, a pixel tree; from the side, real depth. Every layer is built by hand from blocks cut and painted one by one; the place of honour in the living room at Christmas, the hallway after.
